CNC Machine design for DMG Mori

Precision tools designed with emotional intelligence

Role

Industrial Designer (Junior --> Intermediate)

Industry

CNC / Machinery

Duration

25 months

At Schindler Creations, I had the chance to shape the visual identity of high-performance CNC machines for DMG Mori.
Heavy-duty steel, cast beds, millimeter precision – and a clear goal: transforming engineering excellence into a bold, iconic form.

Turning industrial weight into a visual statement.

From early sketches to Rhino CAD skins, I was mentored by Ing. Alexander Strebelow to bring stealth aesthetics into the premium segment – and to deepen my understanding of steel production and mechanical components.

Attention to detail.

The design language and functional markers developed for the primary machines were also applied to transfer products, including tools for additive manufacturing.

Even machine parts like this 3D laser head reflects the same principles of clarity, robustness, and precision.

The intersection of UX and industrial hardware

I explored the intersection of UX and industrial hardware, extending beyond machine housings, signal lights, handles, and functional markers. I also worked on control units, interfaces, and rotary knobs for operator panels – most of which I can't show due to ongoing NDA restrictions.

We are grateful to DMG Mori for allowing the release of selected visuals for our portfolio presentation.

Special thanks to the team at Schindler Creations – it was a blast working with you!
